It may be nearly the end of term but we continue to broaden our Griffinsā horizons and help them to widen their art knowledge. Year 6 visited the New Art Gallery in Walsall and explored some breath-taking and thought-provoking pieces of art. The first display we viewed was a selection of art exploring the year 2020 and the major events that took place, and the pieces really encouraged the children to share their thoughts about what they saw and recognise how powerful art can be to share a message.Ā Ā Even a picture that just said, āStop doing stupid thingsā inspired Thomas to say, āItās amazing how four words can have such meaning.ā
We also explored landscapes and sculptures, met several of the artists and even became weather forecast reporters, using pictures of flowers as our inspiration. The children also enjoyed exploring the floor with art works for sale. We werenāt sure about the dustcart on sale for Ā£19,000! It certainly got us talking!
