Exploring the Wonders of Astronomy

By 27 February 2025No Comments

Our Griffins in 5 Newton had an amazing experience with a special visitor, Dr. Richard Greenwood during the first of many exciting sessions for our new science project, ‘Asteroids – Do Look Up.’

As part of this project, the children will become astronomers, exploring the world of meteorites, meteors, and asteroids through hands-on activities using high-tech cameras and telescopes. In the sessions, the children used their observation skills to examine meteorites provided by Dr. Greenwood, and they will continue to develop these skills throughout the project – observing meteors in the sky and collecting micrometeorites from their local environment.

This will help our super Year 5 scientists understand that space and astronomy are vast and far-reaching, yet also all around us. We can’t wait for the next session, where we will continue to explore the wonders of astronomy.
