Pupils in Year 5 took part in a thoughtful PSHE session where we explored the theme of healthy relationships. We discussed the key elements that make a relationship positive and supportive, such as kindness, respect, honesty and good communication. The children then created eye-catching posters to show their understanding, demonstrating both creativity and maturity in their ideas.
We also continued our celebration of Black History Month by learning about the life and work of Maya Angelou. Inspired by this year’s theme – Standing Firm and in Power – we explored her powerful poem ‘Still I Rise’ and reflected on the importance of resilience and standing up for ourselves and others. The children then had a go at writing their own poems, which were full of emotion, strength, and creativity.
