Craters on the Moon

By 25 April 2023No Comments
To conclude the sharing of Bramford’s Griffin Science Symposium activities, we would like to share Year 6’s science experiments.
After listening to a talk by Dr Alice Dunford about the moon with our other Year 6 Griffin schools, Year 6 took part in a crater experiment, recreating how craters were caused on the moon. Each group used a tray of flour and cocoa, and tested a variety of “impactors” to analyse how the craters differed in size and depth, again in a fair manner. Our Innovative Iguana scientists then suggested ways they could make the test even fairer and how they could adapt the experiment.
Our Exploring Elephants also had great fun with our annual biscuit dunking experiment. They tested which biscuit was the “best dunker”. After predicting and giving their hypothesis, the biscuits were put to the test in a fair and controlled way!
