At Bramford, we are always very eager to broaden our childrenâs experiences and horizons and share how other people celebrate key events during the year. Each class began by exploring the Chinese New Year and how our friends around the world celebrate it.
Nursery pupils chose to have the Chinese New Year as their theme and have been celebrating all week. They have been creative chameleons, exploring elephants and innovative iguanaâs! It looks like theyâve had lots of fun making and exploring all things Chinese!
Our Reception children tried some Chinese food, âit was yummyâ. There were lots of âPersevering Parrotsâ learning how to use chopsticks. The children were very busy in the creative area making Chinese Lanterns and special money envelopes.
2 Mozart read The Legend of the Chinese New Year and as this year is the year of the tiger they followed instructions to make a colourful tiger.
In 4 Wiltshire one of their pupils brought in a traditional dress that is typically worn during New Year in China. She explained to the other children how her family celebrates the New Year at home. Also, the staff were treated to a traditional Chinese desert, which was made by the child.
Year 6 found out whether they were born in the year of the Tiger (which is this yearâs animal) or in the year of the Rabbit and then created New Year cards to send to their family and friends.
