On Friday 6th October 2023, 15 of our lucky Griffins were chosen to go to Birmingham REP for an audience with Sir Lenny Henry.
The visit was funded by our amazing Bramford Parents and Friends Association (BPFA) who also purchased a copy of Sir Lenny’s book, ‘The Boy with Wings’ for each of the children.
The pupils were seated high up in the auditorium but still had a fantastic view of the stage. All the pupils were impeccably behaved and enjoyed listening to Lenny read from his books, tell stories of his life in Dudley and how he was inspired to write books for children.
At the end of the show, our Griffins were lucky to be the first school in the queue to have their copies of Sir Lenny’s book signed. He spoke to each child, signed each of their books and loved listening to their jokes. He then asked the children if they would like to have their photographs taken with him. What an amazing experience!
Thank you to Sir Lenny Henry for being an inspiration to children everywhere and to the BPFA for funding this wonderful experience. We are sure the children will be inspired to read all of Sir Lenny’s books and the other books that he mentioned in his talk. And, who knows – some of our Griffins could become authors just like him!
